Abstract

Hypopigmentation or albinism is the result of a recessive genetic condition characterized by a lack of pigmentation in the fur, skin and iris of the eyes. The first record of albinism in the auguti (D. punctata) is documented for Honduras, the site of this finding is in the Joya Grande Ecopark and Zoo located in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Yojoa in the department of Cortés.

Keywords: Albinism, guatusa, pigmentation, Honduras.
