Resumen

Abstract

We present field observations on the consumption of an avocado (Persea americana), the heaviest fruit recorded as food item for the great fruit-eating bat (Artibeus lituratus) in an Andean locality (Venezuela). This observation represents the maximum weight record of a fruit carried by any species of the genus Artibeus.

Keywords: feeding behavior, ecology, Persea americana, Venezuela.
